A few weeks ago, I was offered a pair of FootBalance QuickFit insoles for review.  I was pretty excited to give them a shot.  Some people may wonder how in the world one gets excited about insoles.  I‘ll tell you how.  My wife has a serious case of plantar fasciitis or heel spurs.  She has had surgery on one foot already and the second foot will get fixed soon.  I just accidentally typed in “hell spurs” and realized that this may be a more accurate description of the condition!  None of mine or my wife‘s shoes have the “stock” insoles in them.  Believe me when I tell you that I have quite a bit of experience with insoles.

The QuickFit insoles are heat moldable.  You actually are able to cook these things in your oven.  The packaging says that the insoles will mold to your feet anyway, but I suppose the process is hurried along by heating them up in the oven.  The directions state to place the insoles on a cookie sheet upside down in the oven with the temperature set to 175 degrees.  Baking time is five minutes.  The insoles have an indicator that changes color when the insoles are done.

Before cooking, be sure and trim the FootBalance insoles to fit your shoes.  Just take out whatever insole is in there, and cut them to match.  I put the QuickFit insoles in some Merrell hiking boots that are size 45 Euro.  I got the size 45 insoles, but found that I had to trim them to the size 44 line to get a good fit in the shoe.

After my batch of QuickFit insoles was cooked up, I put them in the boots and immediately put the shoes on.  They were warm but not at all hot.  I laced up the boots tightly and went to work.  That has been a few weeks ago. Since then, I have found the FootBalance QuickFit insoles to be very comfortable.  I have trudged through airports, taken short hikes, and spent several hours at a time standing on asphalt while wearing these insoles.  I haven‘t experienced heel pain, or had my arches get tired.  After standing for about an hour and a half for my job, the balls of my feet got a bit tired, but my feet do that anyway.  These insoles work as well or better than the other aftermarket insoles that I have tried.  Sitting at the desk, I even noticed that the boots felt a bit more comfy on the feet.

FootBalance has a couple models of QuickFit insoles on their website.  Both Blue and Pink insoles are listed.  My QuickFit insoles may be a prior generation to these new products, but I am sure the new insoles work just as well or better than mine.  Head on over to footbalance.com to check out all of the products they make.  I plan to try some more of their insoles myself.
