Helly Hansen Odin Huginn Pants

The Helly Hansen Odin Huginn pants are a great choice for a wide variety of activities.  I‘ve been testing these pants for a while now and they really are versatile.  They’re are made from a stretchy softshell fabric that has a durable feel but is still comfortable.

Pockets and Features

The Odin Huginn pants have front zip pockets to securely hold keys, a knife, or other items.  The pockets are big enough for hands and they are not overly deep.  Getting access to the front pockets is easy with their vertical openings but that means the zippers are needed to hold items in.  The YKK zippers operate snag free.  A larger pocket is located on the right thigh and it also has a zipper closure.  The thigh pocket does not stick out from the leg, so you won‘t have trouble snagging it on anything.  The pants don‘t have rear pockets which some may not like but others like me may not carry a wallet in a rear pocket anyway.

Three snap adjustments on the cuff of the Odin Huginn pants combined with a boot hook functions like a pair of gaiters.  Put the hook on your boot laces to hold the cuffs down and pick a snap to tighten them around your footwear.  This will help to keep dirt, gravel, or snow out of your shoes and ticks will have a tougher time getting to you in the warmer weather.  Large zippers up the calf makes it possible to take off the pants without removing your boots.

The Odin Huginn pants have a super comfortable brushed tricot liner in the waist.  It feels great on the skin and there aren‘t any seams or stitching to chafe.  The pants have belt loops as well, so you can use your favorite belt with the pants.  Elastic straps on either side of the waist cinch up if you aren‘t wearing a belt.  Two metal snaps and a YKK zipper close up the front of the pants.

Comfort

The softshell fabric has a bit of stretch, a good durable water repellent finish, and it‘s windproof.  The pants are pretty much form fitting, and they offer a great range of movement.  I sometimes have trouble getting pants to fit properly because my rear and thighs usually require a relaxed fit.  That is the case with these pants and I ended up needing one size larger than usual.  I‘m about 6 feet 1 inches tall and I usually wear a 36-inch waist.  The size large fit my waist but the thighs and seat of the pants was too small.  Extra large fits better and I use the Velcro waist adjustments to take up extra room there.  Helly Hansen does have a great fit guide on their website and I found it to be very accurate.

Final Thoughts on the Helly Hansen Odin Huginn pants

These pants are versatile, and you can wear them in cold to warm weather.  The form fitting style makes them a great choice for hiking or riding your bike to the store.  The styling is sophisticated enough to wear them to a casual business meeting or around the office.  My job requires work outside and the pants work great for that.  The water repellent finish handles mist or light rain with no problem, but you‘ll get wet in a heavy rain shower.

The Helly Hansen Odin Huginn pants sell for $180 on the Helly Hansen website.  Some will consider that to be a bit spendy for a pair of pants, but the durability, and versatility of the pants will give you your money‘s worth.  Click HERE to visit the Helly Hansen website to check out these pants and other Helly Hansen gear.
