Eagle‘s Nest Outfitters is a well-known maker of hammock products. Lately, they have been busy creating a new line of daypacks. The new ENO Pack Series will make great packs for day hikes, getting your gear to the gym, carrying books to class and more. These packs range in size from 20 to 27 liters and have a nylon shell with a ripstop nylon lining. Each pack contains a main compartment, laptop sleeve, and organizational pockets for your smallest gear and accessories. The outer quick access pocket makes stashing your hammock as easy as setting it up. Look for the Indio, Manchester and Rothbury packs from ENO. Prices range from $49.95 to $99.95.
In addition to the packs, they’re introducing a series of totes and slings also constructed with a nylon shell and ripstop lining. The 35 liter Relay tote has a large main zip compartment, a front zip pocket and two water bottle pockets. You‘ll also get a yoga mat sleeve, a key hook and an interior zip pocket. With all that, the Relay will sell for only $27.95. The Kanga and Possum Pocket slings are 11 and 5 liters in size. These bags have main zip compartments, a front zip pocket, padded back panels and shoulder straps and interior pockets. Plus, the larger Kanga has water bottle pockets as well. Prices for these bags are $44.95 for the Kanga and $27.95 for the Possum Pocket.
The Sub series hammocks are ultralight for the backpackers and thru-hiker crowd. For example, the Sub6 weighs just under 6 ounces as its name suggests, and the larger SuperSub tops the scales at only 9.8 ounces. Updated with custom aluminum toggles, these will work with the Helios suspension system. The ENO Sub 6 has an MSRP of $69.95 and the ENO Super Sub has an MSRP of $84.95.
ENO has been making topquilts and underquilts to keep you warm in your hammock for a few years now. For those that don‘t know, a topquilt is basically the top half of a sleeping bag. Gram weenies like topquilts because they are lighter than sleeping bags and they can keep you just as warm. An underquilt is needed in a hammock to keep the cold away from the bottom of the hammock. While you could try to sleep in a sleeping bag only, the insulation on the bottom gets squished between you and the hammock and stops insulating. ENO has updated the Blaze underquilt and Ignitor topquilt with Downtek water repellent down. Downtek treatment is used to make the down absorb less water and dry faster and that is a really good thing.
The ENO Nomad hammock stand is new this year too. This hammock stand is designed to be portable so you can carry it along with you. The Nomad weighs 15 pounds so you possibly could choose to carry it backpacking but it will work great for car camping, canoe trips, and backyards with no trees. Even though it’s a lightweight aluminum alloy, it will support 300 pounds. The Nomad stand is compatible with all ENO hammocks. MSRP on the Nomad hammock stand is $249.95
