The AeroPress by Aerobie is a great new way to brew coffee. I used to feel that most coffee makers take up too much counter space, yet they don’t do a great job. So when I first saw the Aeropress, I was really interested in the design, and thought “How in the world is that going to make me a cup of coffee?” Little did I know, I was soon to be impressed by the results, which is why I am so stoked to share them with you.
Since 1984, Alan Adler and his Aerobie (AIR’-uh-bee) company from California have been making products that have broken world records. Alan spent more than a year doing his own R&D to create a coffee maker that brews under ideal conditions. Through his desire to brew the perfect cup of coffee every time, Alan has brought us the AeroPress. By using immersion, the AeroPress takes away all the bitter flavors found in coffee. There is also less acid, so each cup has a nice rich flavor. And you are no longer left with the gritty coffee, unlike a French press. This is done by using a paper filter vs a metal or mesh filter. And for those in a hurry, the brew time is about 30 seconds. If you don’t want to count, there are many apps on the Android market and Apple store that provide instructions for the AeroPress, plus a timer. Aerobie states that when you choose your grind, the finer the better. This can be done at home if you have a grinder and set it between “drip” and “espresso”. You can also ask your local coffee shop to assist you with this if you prefer.
Aerobie AeroPress Travel CaseThe soft travel carry case is great if you want to take your AeroPress with you on a trip, and at home you no longer need to worry that you might lose some parts. AeroPress provides a manual that is easy to read and explains how to make your coffee strong like a double shot espresso or weak like an American coffee. My only complaint is that I have to wait to heat up the water to make my coffee. I usually just heat it using a one cup brewer or in the microwave.
Since it makes such a great cup of coffee, the AeroPress is the perfect gift for any coffee drinker this holiday season. Buy one for your boss, your friends, or your family. Whomever you buy the AeroPress for, they are sure to love the coffee made from the AeroPress for years to come. Aerobie sells the AeroPress at a variety of coffee shops, big box stores, and online. You can find them for around $25.99. To find a retailer close to you, click here.
