Bridgford Ready To Eat Sandwiches

Bridgford Italian Style Ready to Eat Sandwich

Like to camp, but don’t like to cook while camping? Me too. Bridgford Ready to Eat Sandwiches has the solution for us. They provided some for this review, and have won me (and my taste buds) over.

Most readers of this site have probably tried “ready to eat” food, of the camping or emergency food storage variety. Personally, I‘ve hated it. I eat it only when it is the last or only option that I have. Unfortunately, ready to eat food is quite often the most practical choice for a long backpacking trip for me. Sure, I could pack a stove, a pot, a bowl, utensils, and a few cans of chili, but the weight adds up, and again, not a fan of cooking at the end of a long hike. Bridgford Foods has put a lot of effort and research into making it easy to carry food packs that are delicious, and require zero prep.

To be honest, when I opened the wrapper of my first Bridgford Italian Style sandwich, I was a little skeptical. I‘ve been hurt before and I did not trust ready to eat food, as it would seem that they lack in flavor and texture, which makes them hard to eat. To my pleasant surprise, the Bridgford sandwich really was delicious!

Bridgford Ready to Eat Cinnamon Bun

Each Bridgford Foods Ready to Eat Sandwiches weighs between 2.5 to 3.5 ounces, and they average about 300 calories each, with fifteen different flavors to choose from. There is an option for even the most picky tastebuds. Some of the choices are Italian Style (which is now my personal favorite), Bacon Cheddar, Sweet and Sour Chicken, and Pepperoni Stick. They even have a selection of dessert flavors that include Cherry Turnover, Cinnamon Bun, and French Toast! Additionally, the sandwiches are shelf stable for three years. So these work perfect for short term food storage or 72 hour packs. I have replaced the granola bars in my 72 hour pack with these sandwiches, as they taste better and are more filling.

Bridgford Foods has tested their sandwich with the United States Marines during an overseas operation, and are currently incorporated in the First Strike Ration MRE. The food is produced under a grant of inspection with the USDA/FSIS, and inspected by multiple agencies. Over 500 employees in the United States work to produce Bridgford products, using only the highest quality meat, purchased from USDA facilities.

If you are ready to change your mind about MRE and ready to eat food, Bridgford Ready to Eat Sandwiches are easy to come by. They are carried at Dick‘s Sporting Goods, Sportsman‘s Warehouse, and very likely, other stores in your area. Here‘s a link to the locations that you can purchase your very own Bridgford sandwiches.
