Canfield Brothers ‘Boosts‘ Nimble 9 for 2017

Iconic steel hardtail 29er gets refreshed with updated geometry and Boost 148 hub spacing.

Canfield Brothers, high-end boutique mountain bike manufacturer, offers the fourth generation of its iconic steel Nimble 9 29er hardtail. This newest model features refinements which keep the brand at the top of their game.

Fresh for 2017, the Nimble 9 Boost sports 148×12 Boost rear hub spacing. Then reach is stretched by more than an inch on all sizes for a roomier cockpit. Finally, seat tubes are shortened for increased maneuverability when riders drop the saddle.

The ‘˜Bros don‘t believe full suspension bikes should get to have all the fun. So when they built the original N9, they started with what they loved about the revolutionary Yelli Screamy (the first production 29er with sub 17-inch chainstays). From there they set about crafting a 4130 chromoly steel 29er hardtail that was ready to get rowdy.

In the latest version, the Nimble 9 combines the revered ride quality of a steel frame with a slack 66.5-degree head angle. Add to that some stubby chainstays adjustable down to 16.25 inches via sliding dropouts. This makes it a likely candidate for the most fun singlespeed possible, if you‘re into that sort of thing, and clearance for 2.5-inch tires.

“The Nimble 9 is a staple in our lineup,” said Lance Canfield, owner and designer. “We were the first to build truly fun big-wheeled bikes, and with a modern take on this classic. It‘s even more versatile than ever, whether you‘re a masochist who wants to build a singlespeed or bikepacking rig, or you just want keep it real with an aggressive all-mountain steel hardtail.”

Available in sparkle metallic black, blue, green and bronze in S, M, L and XL, the Nimble 9 Boost frame retails for $749 USD at CanfieldBrothers.com.
