More Elliptical Chainrings from Wolf Tooth!

An Elliptical Chainring for cranksets of all sizes. This seems to be Wolf Tooth Component’s goal for the winter season. The Minneapolis Minnesota- based company is just cranking out new products and product expansions like crazy, and the cycling community is eating it up. Since January 11th, 2016, Wolf Tooth Components has been offering three additional elliptical crankset products. Aimed at roadies, mountain bikers, and cyclocross rider’s drivetrains, this ought to make a lot of folks who want to try out the elliptical chainrings quite happy, myself included.

We keep rolling out the Elliptical chainrings!

Wolf Tooth is now shipping Drop-Stop® Elliptical chainrings for Shimano’s XT M8000, Shimano’s 110 BCD 4-bolt road/cx, and Race Face’s Cinch Fat Bike Cranks that need a special Reverse Dish chainring for the correct chainline.

Our Elliptical chainring offering here at Wolf Tooth continues to grow as we design them for the hottest cranksets out there.  The Shimano M8000 group is a game-changer with its smooth shifting and use of standard 10 speed freehub bodies, the Shimano 110 4-Bolt cranks are the standard in crankset precision and stiffness, and Race Face makes some of the best fat bike cranksets around.

The Race Face Reversed Dished (dished out or away from the bike) Elliptical chainrings take a little more explaining.  They are specifically designed with the optimal chainline, 75mm, for fat bikes that have 190mm rear hub spacing but use cranksets designed around 170mm rear hub spacing.  This configuration allows for a narrower or “normal” fat bike q-factor even when running the fattest of tires.  While this might sound like a super niche, most popular 190mm rear hub fat bikes are now being designed around this standard, including the Trek Farley, Specialized Fat Boys, Pivot Les Fat, and Borealis Bikes, to name a few.

These new Elliptcal 1x chainrings, like our other round and Elliptical rings, are beautifully machined in Minneapolis, Minnesota from hard-wearing 7075-T6 aluminum, and take advantage of Wolf Tooth‘s patent-pending Drop-Stop® tooth profile for unrivaled chain retention and mud shedding.
