Jake ID – Personalized Gear ID Products

Here’s another stocking stuffer idea from Jake ID. They offer personalized gifts that are inexpensive, durable, and perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, as well as travelers, pet owners, and more. Each Jake ID is constructed of black nylon webbing with your custom information woven into the webbing. The red on black makes for an easily-readable, high contrast gear bag ID, sun/eyeglass keeper, zipper pull, luggage tag,  lanyard, or even a pet collar. Since the letters and numbers are woven right in, they’ll never wear off, and the nylon itself should provide years of service.

The dive light lanyard (shown above) is made in the US from 1/2″ nylon webbing, and there’s room for 19 characters. Have your name, phone number, or even email woven permanently into the webbing. Obviously, this item could be used for plenty of other gear.

To the right is the surfing combo, which includes a pair of zipper pulls as well as a 30″ wetsuit zipper pull. Like all the Jake ID products, this makes it easy to quickly determine which is your wetsuit or gear bag. And no amount of exposure to salt  water will wear the personalization off. That’s also what makes it a great idea for dog or cat collars – your contact info won’t get scratched up like dog tags can.

They were nice enough to provide a customized ID strap for sunglasses so I could get an idea of the actual quality. While I don’t think I would want my name, phone number, or email address on it, having my website emblazoned in bright red has proven to be a great conversation starter for both myself and Jake ID. (Marketing people, take note!)

Although the Jake ID website isn’t very fancy, it’s easy enough to navigate, and all the products are made in the US. While each item is obviously custom made, there’s something nice about knowing it was made by hand just for the recipient. And the durability is impressive – as hard as we tried, we couldn’t get the stitching to give. Tough stuff. They’re also very affordable.
