I’ve been a fan of Rebecca Rusch for some time now. The “Queen of pain” is roughly my age, a World Champion multiple times over (and recently, not like some athletes that peaked in their 20s or 30s), and easily one of the coolest and most easy-going people I have ever met. Check the article for some of her accomplishments – she’s pretty much unstoppable. The cycling industry is fortunate to have her as a high profile competitor, and female cyclists everywhere can look up to her the way men admire their favorite contenders. Personally, I am in awe of all she’s accomplished. Go Reba!

Santa Rosa, California’” For the fourth consecutive year, world class pro cycling athlete and Buff® ambassador Rebecca Rusch has won the Leadville Trail 100. Shattering her previous course record with a winning time of 7 hours and 28 minutes 6 seconds, Rusch‘s victory coincidentally came in the final leg of the SRAM Gold Rusch Tour.
“I’m overwhelmed by the win and a new course record. We had such a strong field of women out there … this race continues to get more competitive every year,” Rusch said. “The LT100 is such a special race, so being able to roll across that red carpet as the first female for the fourth time was definitely the highlight of my year. ”
The Leadville 100 covers 104 miles, includes 11,600 feet of climbing, and peaks out at 12,600 feet above sea level. For the past four Leadville victories, Rusch has chosen the Seamless Headband Buff ® to keep her cool and dry under the helmet.
“Rebecca is a tremendous inspiration and valuable asset to the world of cycling,” said Shirley Choi Brunetti, Vice President and General Manager, Buff, Inc. “To see her make history once again is a testament to her undying commitment to the sport.”
In addition to three 24-hour solo mountain bike World Champion rainbow jerseys, Rusch is the 2010 World Champion for Master‘s XC mountain biking; the 2011 National XC single-speed champion; and a three-time national champion in 24-hour team mountain biking. She is a two-time winner of Idaho‘s Short Track state championship, and also has a cyclocross state title on her trophy shelf.
Rusch will also be the featured guest at the Buff® booth of the Interbike Show in Las Vegas (Sept. 19-20). To see the details on this appearance, as well as Rusch‘s full 2012 calendar, please visit www.goldruschtour.com.
