STM Velo Messenger Bag

After spending three days looking at dozens of messenger bags and backpacks in a variety of shapes and sizes, (and a ton of other gear) it’s hard to imagine any one design really standing out. Yet the STM Velo (STMbags.com) is so packed with clever design features, quality construction, and smart styling, we’ll go ahead and give everyone a sneak peek before we even get our hands on one for a proper review.

The Velo is messenger style shoulder bag designed for your laptop and iPod or reader, plus all the other essentials needed for a day at the office, in the classroom, or sightseeing. It’s got the usual pockets and compartments for your magazines or sketch books, notepads, lunch, diary, pens, pencils, and all the other stuff we need to take us from daybreak to sunset and beyond. There’s a handy top compartment for your glasses, compartments at each end for water, (or barley-based hydration) and a see-through zippered mesh pocket inside keeps little things from getting lost and makes locating them easier.  For all of you that appreciate stealth, especially when you’re late to class or work and don’t want to bring attention to yourself, the main compartment is secured by two large buckles that won’t wear out like velcro will. Speaking of replaceable, the durable and padded strap has swivels for tangle-free operation, and isn’t sewn on, so when it wears out, you don’t have to replace the whole bag. There’s all that and plenty more, so check back soon for a full review. With an expected availability date of mid-August, we should have one for testing shortly.
