Time to Check Out the BONX Grip

We got this release for a product called the Bonx Grip, and just took a peek at their INDIEGOGO fundraiser. We’re definitely going to keep an eye on this one. The Bonx Grip is a Bluetooth headset that works with their app, allowing users to have group conversations. They key word here is “group”.

Product descriptionA Bluetooth earpiece, BONX Grip connects to an original smartphone app to facilitate unique group conversation. It only transmits voice when a user speaks. Dual microphones with multi-layer wind and noise reduction technology ensure crystal-clear speech. There is no distance limit, thanks to data transmission over standard cellular networks. BONX Grip is water and shock-resistant. It‘s uniquely designed to stay put during rigorous outdoor activities. It maintains maximum comfort with a choice of three different sized earbuds.

So it’s not just a Bluetooth headset that lets you call one person, or maybe have a conference call with two others. The device, paired with the smartphone app, allows whole groups to stay in communication. It uses your cell phone network to carry the signal, but only transmits (and receives) when you or someone in your group starts talking. That saves battery life. It comes from a startup group that mixed their love for the outdoors with their love of tech.

This is a great option for groups of cyclists, hikers, runners, and climbers. And since you can stash your phone in a pocket or backpack, they even recommend it for the ski and snowboard crowd, as well as SUP users. If you’re outdoors in a group, it’s for you.

Two-way radios are an inexpensive way to communicate, but usually only via line-of-sight. If you want more power, to cover more distance, you generally need to go with GMRS. For that, you have to apply for a license with the FCC, which costs more than most radios. Even then, your coverage is limited to a few miles, at best.  But the Bonx will work anywhere you have a cell signal. I am totally down with that.

Again, their INDIEGOGO just launched. If you want to be one of the first to get in on this cool bit of tech, go check it out. They have some great deals for those that support them first.
