ExOfficio Sport Mesh boxer briefs are a high performance option for underwear. Until recently, I always wore run of the mill cotton boxer briefs and I had no idea how much more comfortable life could be with a better choice. At my day job, I work outside quite a bit in cold and hot weather. Traveling home in sweat soaked smelly underwear is no fun at all whether in a car or plane.
Now that my main outdoor activities are backpacking and hiking, the same performance in clothing as cycling bibs and jerseys is a must. Quick drying, comfortable, odor resistant clothes go a long way in making the outdoors more enjoyable. I want to enjoy nature, the peace and quiet, and the company of my friends without being totally soaked in grunge and sweat. The ExOfficio Sport Mesh boxer briefs really bring it when it comes to filling that need.
For comfort, ExOfficio Sport Mesh boxer briefs are made from a stretch diamond knit mesh fabric. They have a snug active fit and they don‘t bunch up or get in the way. Silvadur anti-microbial treatment reduces odor. The mesh fabric gives great airflow and dries quickly. An ergonomic fly panel constructed from classic diamond weave mesh fabric gives good support for everything and flatlock seams and a smooth waistband prevent chafing.
Wearing a lighter weight pair of underwear did take a bit of getting used to. Trading the old familiar feel of cotton for the new lightweight fabric left me feeling a bit, let‘s say, free. Once I realized the benefits of being dry and less stinky, I haven‘t looked back.
These ExOfficio Sport Mesh boxer briefs have been with me on 3 or 4 backcountry trips as well as several days at work. I estimate that I walked 50 to 60 miles while wearing them and they deliver on the comfort. Just so you guys know that we don‘t pull any punches with reviews, I have to say that a second pair were sent out for review. The first pair of underwear starting pilling on the left hip. No holes have formed and I‘ve been wearing these all along. No problems have cropped up with the second pair.
ExOfficio calls these travel underwear. I never knew what made underwear the travel variety since I‘m traveling in just about every pair of underwear that I‘ve owned. ExOfficio says that the Sport Mesh boxer briefs can be washed in the sink and will dry in a few hours and that‘s what makes them travel underwear. In my case, cold water in creeks did the job great.
The ExOfficio Sport Mesh boxer briefs have an MSRP of $30 so they are a bit pricey. On the upside, you don‘t need to buy many pair of them and they perform just as they should. I plan to keep on hitting the trails in mine and enjoying the extra comfort. Check out the ExOfficio website by clicking here.
Thanks to ExOfficio for sending out the Sport Mesh boxer briefs for testing and review. We have to live on a budget too and being able to write these honest reviews hopefully benefits everyone.
