Winter is here, and so is the new Glacier Stainless 1 L vacuum bottle from GSI Outdoors. As the name implies, it holds a full liter of your favorite hot or cold drink. That’s twice as much as their new .5 L (half liter) bottle, for only a few dollars more. If you’re like me, you’ll want to make sure you have enough coffee, tea, cocoa, or even soup to share this winter, so go for the big size. GSI Outdoors sent us one to test out in the Utah cold.

Double wall stainless steel, so your drinks stay hot or cold for up to 15 hours. Stainless does not easily take on the taste of the contents, so your soup won’t taste like yesterday’s coffee. And when you drop it, it doesn’t break, it just gets character.
A cap that’s a cup, so you can pour yourself a drink. It’s lined with the same Glacier Stainless, so of course it’s BPA-free as well.
The stopper has groves in it, so you can unscrew it part way, then pour. This can help keep the heat in too.
Rubber on the base keeps it from sliding around, and helps prevent tip-overs.
Bold color choices! I have always liked the way GSI Outdoors offers the same colors through their product line, and the Glacier Stainless is no exception. Red, green, blue, orange, or raw stainless options all look good. Our sample came in red, which adds a warm touch on cold days.
My love of coffee is no secret, and being able to bring along a full liter means I might even share a cup. In my world, this would carry the second round for a smaller pair of travel cups. Or I could just drink from it all day by myself. I’m easy. It did keep my coffee hot all day, but really, I could knock out a liter before lunch. I also like it for soup, although the pour-through lid may not work so well with something like chicken noodle or minestrone. Either way, it’s a great vacuum bottle. Big, but not too big. Looks good, and gets approval from our female testers for not being too masculine. Some bottles look more like they belong on a job site.
