I’d say China is making a certain Canadian politician look mighty ass-backwards. Apparently, the traffic authorities in the city of Shanghai are going to link cycling lanes around the city in 2007 to create a network of lanes with no obstructions. This is one of several measures to improve conditions for drivers and cyclists in the city.
They also have some other projects planned, including rearranging vehicle lanes at intersections, and creating bus stations that won’t block traffic.
Quite progressive, especially for a country where private vehicle ownership is rising at a rapid pace.
