In India, there was a recent bicycle rally to protest the high cost of petrol and diesel fuel.
I find this extremely amusing. This is the country with the $2,500 Tata Motors Nano car. Soon, the automobile will no longer a luxury to everyday Indians, and will be affordable for nearly anyone. But few will be able to actually afford the fuel to run them. And to protest this, they took to the streets on bicycles.
Am I the only one that sees the irony here?
This is why Econ 101 should be a required class for all high school students. In the last couple days I’ve now read about fuel protests in the US, UK, France, Spain and now India. What are these people protesting? There’s really nothing much that the governments can do. About the only thing they can do is allow more oil drilling everywhere and then they would all complain about the drilling in their backyard.
