The TandemKross Eagle Eye Fiber Optic Sight Set for the Taurus TX22 is one of my favorite upgrades for this pistol (after their excellent Victory trigger). While the factory sights are serviceable, they’re not great. What I really wanted was a nice, bright set of fiber optics. Light, fast, and no batteries to worry about.
Many TX22 owners start with better sights. However, the biggest performance improvements usually come from the trigger and reliability upgrades. If you’re planning to upgrade your pistol further, see my guide to the best Taurus TX22 upgrades, which covers the Victory trigger, lightened trigger spring, and Eagle’s Talon extractor.
The TX22 is showing up at a lot of ranges for good reason. Thanks to a low price (often under $300) and some solid features, it has become one of the most popular rimfire pistols available. Built on a polymer frame with an aluminum slide, it’s lightweight even for a rimfire, and the 16-round magazines make plinking sessions last a little longer between reloads.

Taurus TX22 Fiber Optic Sights Construction and Specs
Machined from aluminum, the set weighs just 0.30 ounces. Rear light pipes are red, while the front is green, and both are replaceable. The front sight sits a bit taller than the factory sight, which can help when running a suppressor.
The rear sight is a big upgrade over the factory setup because it is adjustable for both windage and elevation. It also includes serrations that improve visibility and reduce glare in bright light.

These sights are compatible with first generation Taurus TX22 and TX22 Competition models that use the larger rear sight cut. If your slide uses a narrow Glock-style rear sight cut, these sights will not fit.
The package includes the front sight, rear sight, and the necessary wrenches for installation and adjustment.

Installation of the Taurus TX22 Fiber Optic Sights
After clearing my pistol and removing the slide, I popped out the recoil assembly and barrel. That gave me access to the front sight, which unscrews from the underside of the slide.
Installing the new front sight is simple. Insert the machine screw and brass washer from under the slide and carefully thread it into the sight base. Align the sight correctly and snug it down without overtightening. TandemKross includes a small wrench to prevent over-torquing.

The factory rear sight uses a single screw in the center. Removing that allows the sight to slide out. Slide in the TandemKross rear sight and tighten the screws in an alternating pattern to keep even pressure and maintain centering.
As always, avoid overtightening, but do make sure the sight is secure before reassembling the slide and reinstalling it on the pistol.

Adjusting the Rear Sight
The elevation screw sits in the center of the rear sight. Turning it clockwise lowers the point of impact, while turning it counterclockwise raises it.
The windage adjustment screw is located on the side of the sight. Turning it clockwise shifts the point of impact to the right, while counterclockwise moves it to the left.
If you change ammunition, the point of impact may shift slightly. Keeping the adjustment wrench in your range bag is always a good idea.
Range Time with the Taurus TX22 Fiber Optic Sights
Fiber optic sights work extremely well in sunlight. Overhead light makes the light pipes stand out, which makes acquiring a sight picture quick and easy.
The green front pipe really pops, making it easy to track the front sight during rapid shooting. I did make a few minor adjustments to the rear sight to dial things in, but once set, it consistently hit to my point of aim.

Pros and Cons
The Taurus TX22 is an inexpensive pistol, but that affordability leaves room for upgrades. If you don’t want to invest in an optic plate and red dot, these sights are a great upgrade for around $80.
The improved sight picture and adjustable rear sight make them a noticeable step up from the factory setup.
The only minor complaint I had was the slightly glossy finish. Personally, I would prefer a more matte finish to reduce glare even further. That said, the rear serrations help mitigate this, so it’s not a major issue.
Other Taurus TX22 Upgrades Worth Considering
