I’m going to totally gloss over the fact that I took the last week off, and had a well-deserved vacation from writing and editing. The last twelve months have been pretty awesome for the site. We managed to get to Outdoor Retailer Winter and Summer Market, as well as Interbike, after a few year’s absence. And I’m not sure I can even keep track of how many great articles all the contributors have come up with. I couldn’t have managed to publish five articles each week for nearly twelve months without their help.
Of course, the big news is tomorrow. Sure, it’s the start of a new year, which is all well and good. But January 1, 2013 marks the sixth anniversary of Industry Outsider! There have been plenty of changes to the site over that time, and with the first post, I really had no idea it would still be around six years and 945 articles later. Although it’s been a lot of long hours both testing gear and writing about it, it hasn’t been all work. Trade shows aren’t just all about seeing the latest and greatest, or learning about new gear. We get to have a cold one or two, and catch up with industry friends. This site wouldn’t exist without the marketing and PR people that provide the information, press releases, and products for evaluation and review as well as giveaways. We’re thankful for them, just as we’re thankful for our readers, their comments, “likes” on Facebook, links, and contest entries.
As I’m ringing in the new year with Mrs. Outsider and our family and friends, I’ll also be celebrating this personal milestone. So if there’s no article on Tuesday, it’s because we had too much fun on Monday night. Thanks again for your support.
Cheers,
Brian
