I briefly mentioned Outer Impact’s Browning Buck Mark Red Dot Mount in my second Buck Mark article last month. To recap a bit about Outer Impact, they manufacture a wide range of optic mounting solutions for both rimfire and centerfire firearms. Their M.R.A. (Modular Red Dot Adapter) is especially appealing to Browning Buck Mark owners because of its impressive compatibility.
This particular Browning Buck Mark red dot mount fits more than a dozen Buck Mark variants and supports over 25 popular pistol optics. Instead of using a dedicated mount for a single footprint, the Modular Red Dot Adapter allows shooters to run a wide range of optics using one adapter plate. For shooters who like experimenting with different red dots—or upgrading optics over time—that flexibility is a major advantage.

Outer Impact Modular Red Dot Adapter (M.R.A.) for the Browning Buck Mark
At 4.902 inches long, the Outer Impact adapter replaces the entire rear sight assembly of the Buck Mark. Because of its length and structural role, it is machined from billet 7075-T6 aluminum rather than the more common 6061-T6 used on smaller optic plates. After machining and threading, each mount receives a black anodized finish for durability.
Both sides feature the Outer Impact logo in white lettering, and the machining is clean and precise. As shown in the photos, the mount works equally well with factory Browning Buck Mark barrels or aftermarket options like the Tactical Solutions Trail-Lite.
Outer Impact also includes several screw packages to simplify installation. This is a thoughtful touch and adds real value. Whether you install a Vortex, Burris, Holosun, or another optic later, the necessary mounting hardware is already included. From a manufacturing standpoint it also allows Outer Impact to offer a single SKU for Buck Mark owners regardless of the optic they choose.
At an MSRP of $74.95, the M.R.A. is a very versatile Browning Buck Mark optic mount. Just be sure to have a T-10 Torx driver available during installation. The different optic patterns drilled and tapped into the adapter are visible in the photo below.

Installation of the Browning Buck Mark Red Dot Mount
As always, confirm that the pistol is unloaded before starting any installation. Remove the factory rear sight assembly and place the M.R.A. in its position, with the squared edge facing forward and the rounded edge facing the rear.
Locate the bag labeled “MNT HDWR,” which contains the two required Torx screws. The longer screw installs in the rear hole, while the shorter screw installs in the front position, mirroring the factory hardware layout. Tighten the screws evenly before final torque.
Outer Impact recommends finishing installation with a torque wrench set to approximately 25 inch-pounds and applying a small amount of non-permanent thread locker. Before installing the optic, cycle the bolt assembly to ensure it moves smoothly.
I should note one small issue with my photos. The mount was originally installed on my other Buck Mark before I photographed the upgrade process on this pistol. Because of that, you’ll notice that I switched between a Vortex Viper and a Vortex Venom in the photos.
Installing an Optic on the Browning Buck Mark Mount
While I originally ran a Vortex Viper on my other Buck Mark, the Vortex Venom with its 3 MOA dot is my preferred optic for this setup. Installation is straightforward thanks to the included hardware and the detailed instructions provided by Outer Impact.
Outer Impact provides comprehensive instructions on their website explaining which screw set to use for each optic footprint. For the Venom, the included M3 x 6 round head screws worked perfectly.
When mounting any optic, it helps to alternate between screws gradually so the optic seats evenly on the plate.
Because I prefer to minimize adjustments at the range, I used my Wheeler Laser Bore Sighter to perform a quick bore sight. The magnetic base attaches to the barrel and projects a laser reference point downrange, allowing the red dot to be aligned before heading to the range.
One advantage of this mount is its relatively low optic height. Although the optic still sits slightly above the bore axis, it is significantly lower than mounting a red dot on a Picatinny rail. Removing the optic’s Picatinny base also helps keep the sight line lower and more natural.

Range Performance
One interesting observation about this particular Buck Mark is how much attention it gets at the range. Even when surrounded by other rimfire pistols with bright colors or custom parts, people consistently gravitate toward this one.
With the upgrades I installed and the crisp 3 MOA red dot, the pistol is extremely accurate. The low-mounted optic looks clean and balanced on the pistol and performs just as well as it looks.
Another advantage of the Outer Impact Browning Buck Mark red dot mount is its stability. Because the Buck Mark uses a fixed barrel design rather than a reciprocating slide, the optic does not experience the same forces seen on many centerfire pistols.
After more than 1,000 rounds, the mount has held zero perfectly. Some shooters online have expressed concern about losing zero after removing the mount for cleaning, but in my experience the adapter returns to the same position consistently.
Outer Impact Browning Buck Mark Red Dot Mount Conclusion
After running the M.R.A. on two different Buck Mark pistols, I’m genuinely impressed. My optic collection currently includes the Vortex Venom, Viper, and Razor, along with optics from Viridian, UTG, and Crimson Trace. Any of them could easily be installed on this Browning Buck Mark red dot mount using the included hardware.
That flexibility is arguably the biggest advantage of the Outer Impact system. It installs easily, looks clean on the pistol, and allows shooters to experiment with different optics without purchasing multiple adapter plates.
Outer Impact offers far more than just Buck Mark optic mounts. Their product lineup includes scope bases, adapter plates, and mounting systems for a wide range of firearms. You can explore their full lineup by visiting OuterImpact.com.
