This holiday season, give the gift of rimfire accessories from TANDEMKROSS. Whether buying for yourself or someone else, they’ve got you covered. Check out their line of replacement parts and upgrades for 10/22 rifles. With over 7 million 10/22 variants sold, you or someone you know probably has one. So here are what I consider “essential” purchases, along with performance upgrades. Many of these items have been or will be installed on my own 10/22, as well as our project 10/22.
Shock Block bolt buffer
With each shot, your steel bolt comes back and smacks the steel cross pin in your aluminum receiver. Not only is that not good for the longevity of your receiver, but it’s noisy. For just $4.99, TANDEMKROSS offer their Shock Block bolt buffer. Installation takes just a few minutes, and is about as easy as removing your action from your stock. Once it’s out, the factory pin will probably fall out. Push the buffer in, and you’re good to go.
Eagle’s Talon extractor and spring
Shooting rimfire is dirty business. And one of the first concerns with a dirty rifle is poor extraction. For $9.99, you can add the Eagle’s Talon extractor and spring. Made from hardened tool steel, it’s a huge improvement over the factory part. I’m pretty sure it’s cut with an 89 degree edge for extra grabbing power over the original 90 degree one. Either way, it’s visibly sharper, for more positive extraction. And like the rest of the parts listed, it’s an easy install, taking maybe 15 minutes.
KrossPins
Have you ever taken down your rifle to clean it, and the pins just fall out? Avoid that with the TANDEMKROSS KrossPins. Another $9.99 bargain (for a 2-pack). These are great whether you clean once a year, or are taking your rifle down weekly for cleaning and customizing. Once you have your receiver out of the stock, just use these pins to push the old ones out. If they haven’t already fallen out.
Guardian bolt release plate
Stop fighting with the poorly-designed factory bolt release. With the Guardian bolt release plate, you bolt locks back as normal. But it releases with nothing more than a slight pull to the rear. No more fumbling and swearing. It’s now a one-hand operation. The current price is $10.99, and it can be installed in 10-15 minutes. Requires no special tools or skills.
But wait, there’s more!
Those are the items that I would consider for every 10/22, brand new, or a generation or two old. If you’ve already swapped those parts, and are looking to up your performance, here’s a few more TANDEMKROSS performance-minded parts to increase reliability and accuracy.
Spartan skeletonized charging handle
If you’ve got big hands, or shoot wearing gloves, that little charging handle may be a challenge. So why not upgrade to the $24.99 Spartan skeletonized charging handle? It offers more gripping area, and better leverage. Remember, charging handles are for clearing jams too, which isn’t uncommon on even the best rimfires. This is a little more involved to install. It requires no special tools, just some extra patience.
Fire Starter titanium firing pin
A Fire Starter titanium firing pin can help cure light strikes. No matter how good your ammo is, it’s still rimfire. At only $26.99, it’s a small premium over a steel pin, but this one won’t mushroom over time.
Advantage Charging Handle and Picatinny Scope Base
Quite possibly my favorite TANDEMKROSS 10/22 accessory, the $69.99 Advantage Charging Handle and Picatinny Scope Base is pure genius. You don’t even need to be left-handed to appreciate this part. Release the bolt or rack it to clear a jam, using your left hand. No need to change your grip. Plus, it retains the right-side charging handle as well. Not only is it the best of both worlds, but it’s a scope (or red dot) base too! If you can turn a hex wrench in two directions, you can install this.
KrossFire CNC-Machined Bolt
Breaking the $100 barrier is the $119.99 KrossFire CNC-Machined Bolt. Despite the price, this is a bargain. It’s got the cross pin to keep your firing pin in place. Every contact surface is polished smooth for reliability. The bolt face is already machined for proper headspace. If you wanted those three procedures done to your stock bolt, it would probably cost more than what this bolt costs. And you’d have to wait for a gunsmith to do it. Have you checked turnaround times for quality gunsmithing? Bargain! Anyone who’s done a proper cleaning can swap their bolt.
Ultimate Trigger Kit
You’ve gotten this far, might as well throw a new trigger in your rifle too. The Ultimate Trigger Kit retails for $134.99. That drops your trigger pull down to right around 2 lbs. Say goodbye to those flyers that ruin your perfect groups. Short pre-travel, minimal over-travel (adjustable), and quick reset for follow-up shots. Includes a flat-faced shoe, upgraded hammer, sear, and trigger spring. Watch the TANDEMKROSS Youtube video twice, and you can replace your trigger.
All of these, and more, can be found on the TANDEMKROSS website. These are just some of my favorites. Have you bought any of them? How easy was the install? Let us know what you like, don’t like, or if you have any questions.
